The National Home Education network is a wonderful resource when it comes to the legalities of homeschooling. It has a listing of the actual state laws for each state in the...

AOP Monarch Homeschool Curriculum Review

Monarch vs. Switched-On Schoolhouse

Monarch has the same curriculum content as SOS, but the engine is quite different. The main difference is that SOS is installed on your computer and can be used without an internet connection while Monarch is stored on Alpha Omega's computers and requires an internet connection to be used. Because of this, Monarch can be used from any internet-connected computer without installing anything. You can see how this could be a big advantage for somebody using a...

I use and recommend HostGator web hosting! With Wordpress preinstalled and unlimited space, they can handle any blog!

Technology. It’s everywhere today. A glance around me reveals my laptop, cell phone, and iPod Touch. There is an iPad on the couch, a movie playing through the XBox streaming Netflix on the television, and the Kinect is resting in front of the TV.  All within 8 feet of where I sit. It’s everywhere.

Homeschooling has changed so much over the 13 years since we first began....

The Thinking Mother: My First Homeschool Support Network

The most supportive and informative support network for me in the pre-homeschooling and early homeschooling years was not an organization of people, it was books! I entered the homeschooling scene just before the Internet took off.

Local libraries do not typically have books about homeschooling so I wound up having to buy books in order to read them. I decided to photograph my homeschool book collection before I culled it to reduce my collection.

Shown here is one half of my desk which has a...

The Homeschooling Option | The Lazy Mama

I’m not sure what got into me except for the fact that I can see Jack Jack and our family benefiting so much if we would choose to homeschool. If you will notice, I have a new category on homeschooling.

Honestly, I am not the teacher-material. I think many people knew that. And my patience hangs quite low on it’s string. However, I think motherhood changed all that. I find these changes to be marvelous. You’d know what I mean if you had a child yourself.

Homeschooling is pretty much...

The Solution for Homeschooling Multiple Children | Homeschool ...

The Problem: New home schooling families are often overwhelmed with just the idea of homeschooling all of their children at the same time. One of the big benefits of homeschooling is to be together as a family and to schedule life around the home and the...

iPad - Is it worth it? « SCM Discussion Forum: Charlotte Mason ...

He was thinking it might be a good investment in our homeschooling.  Can you tell me more?  Is it worth the investment?  Do you use it much for homeschooling?  My children are 7, 4, and 1, so we would be looking at apps for early and emerging reading, basic math, etc.  Are there any apps you would recommend?  Do you use it much for your own use as well?

I can't help with the educational apps for the younger kids, but I can say that my iPad has been well worth the purchase. It has become...

Parental Tech: How did I chose my homeschool curriculum...?

In my homeschool search 4 years ago I was all over the internet, checking out homeschool curriculums. There are MANY choices out there. Religious, Secular, Montessori, Waldorf and the list goes on and on! I had to decide what I felt would work best for my son and myself as inexperienced homeschoolers. Once I narrowed my choices down, I started checking the homeschool curriculum reviews on them. Some looked great on paper but when you got real time reviews from people who had used this...you...
