The Thinking Mother: My First Homeschool Support Network

The most supportive and informative support network for me in the pre-homeschooling and early homeschooling years was not an organization of people, it was books! I entered the homeschooling scene just before the Internet took off.

Local libraries do not typically have books about homeschooling so I wound up having to buy books in order to read them. I decided to photograph my homeschool book collection before I culled it to reduce my collection.

Shown here is one half of my desk which has a...

The Thinking Mother: Recommending Homeschool Classifieds Site

Today I visited the Homeschool Classifieds site for the first time. My Summary Statement: Different and Better Than Other Student Planner Calendars; Great for Homeschooled Students Too!, August 21, 2010

After looking at all the student planners available in a big chain bookstore in person, when I saw this one, person I knew it was right for my son (in grade 8). This calendar is for August 2010 to August 2011.

The bulk of the planner is the weekly planner section which I'll focus my review on.

The main body of the planner has...

The Thinking Mother: Shutting Out the Noise: Going No Mail

The time has come. I just went to "no mail" on a bunch of internet discussion groups. I joined them over a year ago in order to learn more about homeschooling high school.

I have reached the brink and am trying to save myself from going insane. By listening to what is said I have now seen the crazy go round and round and I'm getting off the crazy train.

I have seen advice given that was portrayed as being the ultimate and final word then I see evidence that those who did the opposite achieved...
