Water Critter Homeschool Day - Alligators, Turtles, Crabs, & Frogs! (Science Curriculum)
We took a homeschooling field trip to the Virginia Living Museum to participate in a water critter homeschool class. We learned about special adaptations that turtles, crabs, fish, and frogs have, that allow them to survive in the wild. We got to see and touch some of the wildlife that we learned about, including a blue crab, a spider crab, a northern diamondback terrapin, and an African Bull frog. Homeschool Educational Field Trip- Hibernation, Migration, and Adaptation (Science Curriculum)
We decided to take a field trip to the Virginia Zoo to get first hand observations of some of the animals we will be learning about in our upcoming science unit. We observed animals that either hibernate during the winter, migrated to find food , or have adapted their body to survive during the cold months. We simply made predictions of what our initial thoughts were and we will find out the correct answers in the coming months. It is so exciting to put our eyes on these magnificent creatures....

Homeschool Curiculum - Social Studies (Native Americans)
We had an amazing interactive homeschool social studies lesson. We are beginning to learn about the local Native American Tribes to include Powhatan and the first settlement at Jamestown. We were able to watch the Red Crooked Sky Native American Dance Group preform this weekend. It was a great opportunity for the kids to understand the Native American culture, listen to some of their stories, see their traditional and modern clothing, and watch traditional dances.
