High school diploma equivalency test now free in Tennessee
Tennessee is now waiving the fee for a high school diploma equivalency test.
The state is offering vouchers in exchange for a high score on a practice test.
The HiSET normally costs $75 dollars.

The measure is sponsored by Representative Gerald McCormick of Chattanooga.
It’s been approved in a House education subcommittee and is now awaiting a vote in the Senate.

A new subdivision will put more than 200 homes near Ooltewah Elementary School.
Developer Jay Bell has gotten a thumbs up from local planners even though some neighbors don’t like parts of the proposal.
The subdivision, which could be called Snowy Owl, will include 95 townhomes and 129 single family homes.
