I realized while watching over this that I'm generally very vague about what these are actually about, but a) these are the sort of books that are sort of floating in the collective unconsciousness, so you probably have some idea already and b) if you don't, it's really easy to find that info on the interwebs.

Oscar Movie Added To Curriculum

(CNN) Oscar-nominated film 12 Years A Slave will be added to high school curriculums nationwide. Montel Williams has coordinated an initiative with the National School Boards Association to distribute the film and book to public high schools in September. This is not the first time Williams has championed a film for education. He also had the 1989 civil war film 'Glory' distributed to public high schools.
