Free Homeschool Curriculums

Free Homeschool Curriculums

Whether you are homeschooling kindergarten or 8th grade, the curriculum does not have to cost a thing.  And it can still be of quality.  Although we have our proven favorites, it does get boring and predictable (not a good combination for learning) to use the same tools over and over again.  So I like to keep up with what’s currently offered out there and I always want it to be free access.

Check out these two free curriculums to help keep things interesting and...

SOLs and Homeschoolers | HEAV's Virginia Homeschool Blog

Q. What are the Standards of Learning (SOL) requirements for homeschoolers?

A. A homeschool curriculum does not have to comply with the Virginia Standards of Learning (SOLs), and homeschoolers are not required to take SOL tests. In fact, they are prohibited from taking them because they lead to a public school diploma. Most homeschool students will receive a parent-generated diploma.

If homeschoolers were required to take the SOL tests, these standards would drive each homeschool family’s...

Grade 6 Homeschool Plan and Curriculum List for my younger son

As of fall 2011, all courses to be administered by Mom at home. We have no plans for fall 2011 to do homschool co-op's or outside paid classes. There was too much going on with the August long distance move to set up outside classes and activities plus my son didn't want to do them anyway.

To Be Busy At Home: MidWest Homeschool Convention

My family and I returned Saturday night from the Midwest Homeschool Convention in Cincinnati. To sum up my experience in one word, WOW! This was the third time that I've attended the Midwest Homeschool Convention and each time it just keeps getting better and better. The absolute MOST wonderful thing about attending this year was that my whole family went with me. I didn't have to miss them and I didn't have to drive in downtown Cincinnati! Since "big-city" driving makes me incredibly nervous,...

Elementary Homeschool Curriculum: Socialization for Elementary ...

One of the biggest complaints about homeschooling that you’ll hear from folks who don’t understand it is the issue of socialization. How can your kids socialize with their peers if they’re stuck at home all day? They’ll grow up in isolation and their social development will be delayed. Right? Wrong! Homeschooled kids are some of the busiest around. There are so many activities available in most communities that if you did all of them, you’d never be at home to do any schoolwork. The...

Homeschooling mom shares what she thinks Sonlight homeschool curriculum Core P4/5; read her review to learn more... We used Sonlight Core P4/5 with Grade K Reader with our now 5 year old. He enjoyed the books more than I thought he would. I thought the instructor's guide and notes were very helpful. This program is for a five day schedule and we also enjoy the use of the Bible. Also it uses storybook, language arts, science, social studies and activities too. I was able to find mine through...

Best Homeschool Programs

However, you must keep in mind that some experienced home schoolers do not stick to just one program. They pick and choose from what they believe are best of each of the respective programs. I cover in more outstanding detail how persons mix and match in my home schooling newsletter.

There are a lot of ordinary and valued home schooling programs. The ones I’ll cover briefly here are Saxon, Center for Learning and Curriculum Associates.

Perhaps one of the more well-known home schooling...

Frugal Homeschooling | MamaSaurus Rex

My town dump has a section where you can leave things for other’s to take for free and sometimes there are really great gently used books there.  The other day I came home from the dump with nearly 30 books and they were all free! Many of them were in excellent condition! We are a primarily literature based homeschool and we read a LOT of books. So, being able to get lots of great books for very little money is huge for me.

Used Curriculum boards

When you know you need something specific,...
