"The thoughts we think, the deeds we do, the lives we live not only influence the success of our earthly journey, they also mark the way to our eternal goals." ~ Thomas S. Monson

From time to time I meet Bishops (or have friends that do) who think they have the right to ascertain whether or not a family should homeschool or not. They are mistaken. Here is a copy of a letter sent out in 2000 that was read in sacrament mtg. to dispel all the controversy. Unfortunately, it seems many people were...

Magnolia Homeschool - Hawaii Tsunami

We saw video of the tsunami in Japan and heard the reports that it would hit Hawaii at 3:30 am.  We had driven by the “Entering Tsunami Evacuation Zone” sign at the entrance to the resort many times and had not thought anything of it.  Now, my husband got out the phone book to look at the evacuation zone maps and we were indeed in one.  We had no plans to still be in the condo at 3:30, but we weren’t sure how soon we needed to leave or if there was some sort of shelter we should go to...

Standardized Testing - Homeschool Blogger

Although standardized testing is not required by Guam law, we highly recommend having your children tested yearly for your records. Taking the assessment tests as you go along in your schooling will help guide you as to what areas you may be falling behind in and need to improve upon.

Homeschooling in Nova Scotia » Blog Archive » A Canadian French ...

I also like the inclusion of French cultural information – there are facts about the French culture here in Quebec, as well as in France.  And at the back of the book are recipes – another great way to immerse your homeschool in the French culture (and something we love to do)!  Every other lesson, there is a new Bible memory verse included.  Great Commission Languages believes that French is THE language to learn for those who want to do mission trips, as many of the areas who need to...

Well done, Misha, you're a Star!!! - Homeschool Blogger

This site is meant for sharing our homeschooling experiences in order to advise & encourage other homeschooling families.

For the past 2 years, whenever homeschooling was mentioned as an option for our boys I protested: “There’s just no way I’d be able to do that”, “I’m not teacher material!”, “I’d strangle them within a week.” etc. etc. Those were my excuses, but in the end it was more a lack of confidence in myself than anything else.

Well, it’s been 2 months since...
