Homeschooling in the Summer
Is homeschooling in the summer really necessary? That is quite a loaded question. Chances are, you probably stand in one of two places on this issue, or somewhere in between. On one end of the spectrum are those that continue to do the same amount of schooling all year round. Most take some longer breaks here and there, but are pretty consistent all year. On the other end of the spectrum are those people who do absolutely no formal schooling during the summer. You are probably somewhere in...

It is legal in the United States, Canada and many other countries to teach your child at home. It is good idea to learn what each state or province recommends.
Also, contacting your local school board or district may provide you with answers to questions you have.

Homeschooling Throughout the Summer | Keeper of the Home
Written by Beth Corcoran, Contributing Writer
When I tell people that we homeschool year round, I usually get one of two responses. I often hear from homeschooling families, “Oh, we try to do that, too.” And then I often hear, “Why on earth would you do that to yourself and your poor kids?”
Well, don’t feel too sorry for my kids. They are managing just fine. In fact, summer time is our favorite time of the year to do school. Let me tell you all about it.
What Our Family Does...

Affordable Homeschooling
Homeschooling doesn't have to be expensive. Affordable homeschooling isn't very difficult if you know where to look. I have included many of the inexpensive homeschooling ideas that we have found useful and effective. When we first started homeschooling, my son was bored and was rapidly losing all his enthusiasm for learning before we pulled him out of Kindergarten. This turned out to be an advantage in that I didn't worry whether we were doing enough. We spend the rest of Kindergarten just...

Day by Day, at home, away: New MN Homeschool Law
This was the first year we were required to turn in paperwork to our school superintendent for homeschooling because Lamb 1 is now 7 years old. Last year I looked at the law and figured out in my mind what we needed to gather-copy of parent college diploma, calendar we would use, etc.
