Darius Redd Accepts His High School Diploma
Clewiston High School student Darius Redd walked up to the stage tonight to accept his high school diploma. It has been a tough year for the former football player, following the contraction of a rare disease and a kidney and a heart transplant. Relegated to a wheelchair for much of his recovery at a Miami hospital, he held out the hope that he would walk on graduation night. One student at the ceremony described him as "our walking miracle."

He was shipped off to boot camp before he could graduate and never got his high school diploma. The high school he attended in Texas wanted to make sure the 89-year-old didn't have to long for that experience any more. Simon was officially declared a high school graduate and received a diploma from Orangefield High School.
