The 2015 Virginian-Pilot Spelling Bee
For the eighth year in a row, WHRO hosted The Virginian-Pilot Spelling Bee live in our studio! Throughout southeastern Virginia and northeastern North Carolina, public schools, independent schools and home school associations all held local school bees and sent their winners to WHRO, where the area’s finest middle school spellers competed for the regional title. From here, the first place winner will travel to Washington, D.C., to compete in the Scripps National Spelling Bee.

Homeschooling with Seton Spelling (grade 2)
One of my top picks for spelling is from Seton Home Study School. Infused with the Faith and solid spelling fundamentals. Their program helps to reinforce reading with phonetics and sight words. I break the chapters up for the older grades. Day 1, they write definitions. Day 2, they work on two pages in the chapter. Day 3, they work on the next two pages. Day 4, is study and writing out list words or practicing on Vocabulary City. Day 5, is their quiz.
For the lower grades, they work on 1 page...
