Texas Home School History - Leeper Victory in District Court
The "Leeper Case" was a class action lawsuit filed on behalf of 10 families, including Gary and Cheryl Leeper, against the State of Texas after criminal suits had been filed against more than 80 families for home schooling. The goal of the Leeper case was to finally establish home schooling as legal and to end government abuse of families.
The case was filed in 1985 and in 1987 the local court ruled in favor of the Leepers and home schooling. The state proceeded to appeal the case all the way...
