SHELBY — A county school teacher and her son lost their possessions in a Forest City fire, and now the community is coming together to help the needy family.

The fire happened a few days before Christmas. The mother and her elementary-age son escaped with the clothes on their backs, said Donna Kostiuk, who works at Marion Elementary.
