Abeka Homeschool Math Curriculum Review

ABeka homeschool math curriculum keeps this mom's hard-to-engage first grader focused and involved. Read her review to learn more... I have really enjoyed using Abeka's Arithmetic Curriculum with two of my children. My first grader, who loses interest easily, has stayed focused and involved in her lessons this year. She enjoys the bright colors used in the workbook, she says they are "happy". I appreciate the repetition throughout every lesson, as it helps her to retain the information...  [more...]

Learn more about Apologia homeschool science curriculum by reading this mom's very informative and helpful review... I was looking for a Creation Science curriculum to teach my daughters. TOS Review – Math Mammoth

Posted by kympossible on November 11, 2011   Category: Curriculum and Resources ,Kennady ,TOS Homeschool Crew Review     ·Tagged just for fun, Kennady, math, photo, resources, reviews, TOS Crew.

In our homeschool, math has never been a favorite subject.  But it’s an essential subject at all grade levels, and for the most part I took the view that if a particular textbook worked for one kid, we would make it work for all the others too.  I rarely shied...  [more...]

Book Review: The Ultimate Homeschool Physical Education Game Book

The Ultimate Homeschool Physical Education Game Book

Two years ago, in my search for something that would add some "formal" P.E. instruction to our homeschool, I came across and purchased this book. Guy Bailey, having worked in physical education for over 22 years, wrote The Ultimate Homeschool Physical Education Game Book to help teach homeschool families fitness, movement and sports skills.

Mother of Divine Grace American History Homeschool Review

Mother of Divine Grace American History was a great homeschool history curriculum. I've used it for two of my sons for 9th grade and both seemed to enjoy it. It combined American history with English and U. S. geography. The student first reads a period in history from the text 'Christ and the Americas', such as, the Civil War. They then read 3 or 4 fictional books set in that time period. (A list of suggested reading is given for each time period.) When the supplemental books are read, the...  [more...]

AVKO Sequential Spelling Homeschool Review

Homeschooling mom says, "AVKO Sequential Spelling homeschool curriculum is just what we were looking for." Read her review to find out why... I had been using a different homeschool spelling curriculum for my children in about 3-6th grade. They were doing fine, until they got to the section reviews. They remembered so little. So, I decided they needed something to reinforce their phonics that they had learned in earlier grades. A friend told me about sequential spelling. It has been just what...  [more...]

ABeka Homeschool Curriculum Review: K4

ABeka homeschool curriculum has received some mixed reviews from some, because of their subtle anti-catholic slant in later elementary years; however, the curriculum does not have any of that in the k4 level. I found ABeka intriguing to the kids with all the bright colors and game options. The detailed day-by-day lesson plans help those of us who desire structure and are new to homeschooling. They seem to focus a lot on teaching children to discipline their bodies to be still and obedient for...  [more...]

He enjoyed the books more than I thought he would. I thought the instructor's guide and notes were very helpful. This program is for a five day schedule and we also enjoy the use of the Bible. Also it uses storybook, language arts, science, social studies and activities too. I was able to find mine through...  [more...]

Learning Language Arts Through Literature: The Red Book

I LOVE the simplicity of the Learning Language Arts Through Literature program! I have a challenging time getting things together but with this curriculum I do not have to! It is completely laid out for me, day by day. We have been using it just since the start of this school year, the difference is amazing. I have a child who actually looks forward to doing work. The cost is very reasonable, that was a a concern this past year. The prices straight from the company were surprising in their...  [more...]

Book club: “modern and compelling” | Laurel Springs

At Laurel Springs, “the book club consists of an extraordinary group of teenagers that come together and really have fun,” says student Deya Aliaga.  The dynamic collection of students in this club not only participate in the collaborative thinking and critical analysis that are expected from a typical book club, but also engage in the democratic process and charitable efforts.  Education Week recently profiled the benefits of virtual book clubs for teenagers, noting that students who...  [more...]
